Brief

The brief for this project was creating a promotional trailer for Inktober month - a series of interactive workshops taking place in key locations around Cairo. Cairopolitan invited 6 artists: Aya Tarek, Sarah Mosallam, Mohamed Mostafa, Hisham Rahma, Akram William, and Omar Mobarak to each create their own program for a one day illustration workshop.

Concept & Implementation

I decided to play with three main givens: the workshop locations, the six artists, and the urban city (Cairo). I worked with each artist individually and try to get into their space as much as possible. Aya’s footage was shot in Alexandria, her home city. Omar was shot in Mohandiseen. Akram, Mohamed, and Hisham were shot at their personal studios while Sarah was shot at her home. As for the city’s footage, I was inspired by the city’s movement and dynamics. Other footage featured the locations that the workshops were to be held at like the Giza Zoo and The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir.
